Prepping for ACT Expo, Podcast-Style

An electric semi truck lit up

John Halpin | Associate Account Director

The broadhead team is looking forward to attending another Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo May 20-23 in Vegas! For the last few years, we’ve enjoyed gaining insight into the trends and technologies that shape and revolutionize clean commercial transportation. The opportunity to connect with current clients and new friends is always a great aspect of the event for us, too.

Our expertise in clean commercial transportation is deep — with history in trucking, charging, aerospace, logistics, and more. And, over the past few years, our Future of Transportation podcast series has featured some interesting conversations with clean transportation experts from a cross-section of industries.

Want to get smarter about clean transportation before going to ACT Expo? Some of our podcast guests can help — watch or listen at the links below.

Lea Malloy (Cox Automotive)
As Cox Automotive’s Head of Electric Vehicle Battery Solutions, Malloy’s area of responsibility spans from first-life extension to energy storage to recycling. She also talked with us about the battery industry’s ability to keep up with demand, and the environmental impact of battery mining and manufacturing.

Bill Loewenthal (ChargePoint)
As the former Chief Product Officer at ChargePoint, Loewenthal shared some interesting insights about what catalysts spur different sectors and industries toward EV adoption. He also discussed how charging software is just as important as hardware for fleets.

IIJA Panel Discussion with Intel
This one was fun. Our friends in the Smart Cities & Transportation division at Intel helped facilitate a group chat with some of their counterparts in technology and municipal transportation. The discussion focused on the impact of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

Desmond Wheatley (Beam Global)
“Driving on sunshine” is catchy, isn’t it? Beam develops and manufactures sustainable infrastructure products and technologies, including solar-powered, free-standing EV charging stations.

Wheatley — Beam’s CEO — referenced shovel-ready projects by saying, “Shovels? We don’t need your stinking shovels!”

Jeff Allen (Forth)
Forth aims to increase equitable access to electric vehicles and charging. In this 2021 episode, Allen addressed some misconceptions about total cost of ownership, talked about bidirectional charging, and envisioned a future where every trip (and its accompanying vehicle) can be customized based on need.

Matt Teske (Chargeway)
Chargeway’s app helps drivers locate EV charging stations, while empowering dealers and utilities to unlock customer-friendly solutions. Teske talked with us about how to overcome electric “fuel anxiety” with better consumer education and recounted his worry-free EV trips from Portland to locations such as Los Angeles and Chicago.

We look forward to seeing you in Las Vegas. If you’d like to connect with us at the event, click here for contact details.
